LEDs

LED lighting is the most exciting development in lighting technology in recent times. LED lighting offers extraordinary benefits, most notably in terms of energy saving and lifespan. Already LED lights are available that achieve energy savings of over 85%, and that are designed to last 25-30 years in normal conditions, about 50 times common incandescent bulbs.

LED’s are the future of lighting. Philips Lighting has stopped all research on compact fluorescents, and is now focusing all its efforts on developing LED lighting.

Further benefits include the fact that LED lights have no glass to break, making them a safer lighting solution. LED lights are also resistant to vibration and impact, because the internal parts are rigid and well supported. LED lights will not dim over time and are free from mercury, unlike fluorescent lights.

Fluorescent Tubes

Long life light tubes have many environmental benefits. Less lights need to be produced, this reduces the consumption of raw materials and the energy needed for production and transportation. They also require less maintenance as they need to be replaced less often, thereby further reducing your costs and efforts.

Long life T8 florescent tubes have an average life span of 50,000 hours, compared to standard T8 tubes with 20,000 hours. And our long life T5 florescent tubes have an average life span of 40,000 hours, compared to standard T5 tubes with 24,000 hours.

We also supply low energy T8 tubes which consume up to 12% less energy from the moment you install them. The new 51 watt and 32 watt T8 tubes replace the standard 58 watt and 36 watt respectively. The lower wattage is achieved using new gas technology. Both new wattages are available in the most popular colors and have comparable light output.

Energy Saving Bulbs

Energy saving bulbs offer tremendous savings to anyone using standard incandescent light bulbs. They greatly reduce energy costs, maintenance costs, and lead to significantly lower CO2 emissions. One energy saving bulb will save several times its own cost in electricity, and 2,000 times its own weight in CO2 emissions. The benefits are so clear that increasing numbers of countries around the world are outlawing the use of incandescent light bulbs.

Typically energy saving bulbs last between 8 to 15 times longer than incandescent lights bulbs. They have a lifespan of between 6,000 and 15,000 hours, compared to either 750 hours or 1,000 hours for standard incandescent bulbs. Improved technology now means 'soft white' energy saving bulbs are subjectively similar in color to standard incandescent bulbs.

Bio Lights

We have decided to include a remarkable range of bio lights that offer tangible health and performance benefits for people, animals, and plants. Many people spend most of their time in environments where there is insufficient natural light. Sunlights natural balance of UVA and UVB is essential for our immune system, metabolism, blood pressure, adenoids, gland functions, and Vitamin D synthesis that is crucial for healthy bone development.

The bio light range uses patented technology to almost completely match the balanced spectrum of natural sunlight, and crucially the healthy UVA and UVB components. The use of bio lights increases the ability for children and adults to concentrate over longer periods of time. In work places performance is increased and are errors reduced. The bio lights so closely match sunlight that color reproduction is over 90%, compared with 60% to 80% for normal lights.

The bio lights are currently being used in offices, hospitals, schools, universities, and farms across the world. A recent study with chickens showed that the use of the bio lights increased egg production, the quality of the eggs, and noticeably improved the well being of the chickens.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports that deforestation is the single largest contributor to CO2 emissions, accounting for 20% of all emissions globally. The World Resources Institute has estimated that around 80% of the world's original natural forests have been destroyed. Furthermore scientists at The Royal Society have shown that trees absorb almost 20% of man's carbon emissions.
